PROS AND CONS OF TEAM OF THE YEAR (TOTY) — FC Mobile 26

Team of the Year 26 or TOTY is honestly one of the most disappointing events we’ve seen in EA FC Mobile. Today we will be discussing the Pros and Cons of the event.

The system feels rushed, poorly balanced, and heavily tilted toward pay-to-win. Sadly, this seems to be the direction we’re being forced to adapt to.

✅ PROS OF THE TEAM OF THE YEAR 26

This event doesn’t offer many positives, but a few elements are still worth mentioning.

🧩 Fodder Availability

  • Players can collect a large number of cards from this event.
  • However, it’s smarter to save this fodder for future events, as the current exchange value is extremely poor.

💎 Gems Resources

  • Division Rivals rewards have been updated, providing better gem income than before, which helps free-to-play players slightly.

🎯 Draft Pick System

The draft pick system brings both positives and negatives.

✅ Pros of Draft Pick

  • After around 9–10 picks, players are almost guaranteed to pull something decent.
  • This system fixes the old problem where pack luck was completely invisible and unpredictable.

❌ Cons of Draft Pick

  • The biggest issue is duplicate pulls.
  • Some players are getting 2–3 of the same icon (like Maldini) within 10 picks.
  • These duplicates have low exchange value, no shards, and essentially no use.

👀 Card Design and Walkout Animation

  • TOTY still delivers the best walkout animation in FC Mobile, and this year didn’t disappoint.
  • Thankfully, EA didn’t ruin it with slideshow-style walkouts like certain past events.

The card animations are visually stunning, and there’s a clear difference between normal icons and UTOTY icons.

❌ CONS OF THE TEAM OF THE YEAR 26

🛡️ League Level Rewards

  • There are barely any changes in league level rewards.
  • Draft Pick Tokens should be added more frequently because they are extremely hard to grind.

We only receive around 3–4k gems in total from league level rewards, which is honestly ridiculous.
After level 50, there are practically no meaningful rewards — sometimes just 20 gems for an entire level.

🏪 League Store Rewards

  • After grinding tournaments and Division Rivals, players earn league exchange points, but they feel useless now.
  • Receiving a 115 OVR Völler is underwhelming when previously we could get a higher OVR minus one player item.

Draft Pick Tokens in the league store are far too expensive, costing around 10k points each, out of reach for new players

🗓️ Player of the Month

  • Almost no one is interested in this section due to the weak rewards.
  • EA should increase the OVR of Player of the Month items.
  • They could also add gem rewards or special tokens that help with overall grinding.

💸 Pay-to-Win Box

  • This box system feels completely copied from other games and is clearly designed for heavy spenders.
  • It adds nothing healthy to the game and pushes the event further toward pay-to-win mechanics.

📉 Fodder Value

  • Before this event, a 112 OVR player gave 5k market pick tokens, and 113+ players gave 10k tokens.
  • Now it’s reduced to just 2k tokens, which is a massive downgrade.

Shard rewards have also been heavily nerfed.

113–115 OVR players now give only 5 shards under the excuse of making shards universal, which feels extremely unrewarding.

📝 Final Thoughts

  • EA often claims they listen to community feedback, but each event feels worse than the last.
  • Team of the Year 2026 was one of the most anticipated events in the FC Mobile community, and unfortunately, it ended up being a complete disaster.
  • EA seems more focused on turning FC Mobile into a fully pay-to-win game.
  • They need to understand that without free-to-play players, the mobile gaming ecosystem cannot survive.
