Detail Review
Pace
+
Despite the stats, he is not among the fastest wingers in-game. The burst after skill moves like Stepovers is not exactly meta level. However, in close areas, the acceleration is still good enough to slide past defenders.
(8.9/10)
Dribbling
+
Dribbling is one of his biggest strengths. His ball control is top notch, and he feels very agile on the joystick. Quick turns, sharp directional changes, and movement in close spaces, all feel very smooth. Skill moves like Roulette & Open Up Fake Shot are responsive, making him difficult to defend in tight areas.
(9.7/10)
Shooting
+
His shooting is surprisingly amazing for an average winger. While shot power is decent only, his finishing accuracy is excellent, especially on finesse shots.
(9.2/10)
Positioning
+
His attacking awareness is very impressive. He makes intelligent attacking runs and positions himself well to receive passes. This makes him consistently involved in attacking build-up.
(9.4/10)
Passing
+
Passing is reliable, especially in link-up play. His short passing is clean, and the Playmaker trait is a big advantage in spotting attacking runs. Crossing from his stronger foot is also decent enough to create chances from wide positions.
(8.5/10)
Physical
-
His physicality is one of the major cons of his gameplay. His raw strength is quite low, so stronger defenders can push him off the ball easily in shoulder-to-shoulder duels. He needs to rely more on agility and movement.
(7.2/10)
Stamina
-
With 4.5* stamina, his performance usually starts dropping after around the 60th minute. His movement becomes less sharp, and the overall impact reduces noticeably. Because of this, he works brilliantly as a cheap beast super sub.
(7.2/10)
Weak Foot
+
The 4* weak foot is manageable and reliable in most situations, especially for those who use swiping to score goals. While it can occasionally lead to missed chances inside the box, it is still good enough for both shooting and passing in the majority of cases.
(8.7/10)
Final Verdict
Phil Foden is a smooth, technical winger with elite dribbling, great positioning, and surprisingly strong shooting. The major drawbacks are low physicality and poor stamina, which limit his effectiveness for full 90 mins. Overall, he is a great option for a free pick, especially as an impact super sub. Also, he is best usable as a RW/CAM, and not as a CM, due to his weak strength.
