Detail Review
Pace
+
Pace feels more than decent for a CB. Recovery speed is good, and he can catch most attackers if they break through the line. Doesn’t feel slow while tracking runs, and he covers ground pretty well during counters. For an aggressive defender, the pace helps a lot when recovering position.
(8.9/10)
Defending
+
Tackling is easily the strongest part of this card. Standing tackles feel insanely powerful and very clean, almost like a wall when timed properly. He steps in aggressively and wins the ball consistently in 1v1 situations. Interceptions also trigger nicely because of his awareness. Sliding tackles are the weaker part though, they can feel inconsistent and less reliable compared to his standing tackles.
(9.5/10)
Physical
+
Physical presence is very strong in-game. He feels powerful in shoulder-to-shoulder duels and can bully attackers off the ball quite easily. Doesn’t get pushed around much and handles physical strikers well. Overall feels like a proper aggressive defender.
(9.2/10)
Aerial Ability
+
Aerial defending is reliable overall. He wins a fair amount of headers and deals with crosses reasonably well inside the box. Offensive heading is decent too during corners, but nothing extraordinary.
(8.5/10)
Positioning
−
Awareness is decent, but positioning can become a problem sometimes. Because of the aggressive nature, he steps forward too much and leaves space behind quite often. Against smart attackers, this becomes noticeable quickly.
(7.0/10)
Passing
-
Passing is decent enough for a CB. Short passes in buildup feel safe and simple, and he usually won’t make many mistakes under pressure. Long passing is average though, so don’t expect elite distribution from the back.
(8.0/10)
Stamina
+
Stamina is solid overall. He stays active throughout the match and doesn’t feel exhausted quickly, even after constant defensive involvement.
(8.8/10)
Final Verdict
Schlotterbeck is a very tempting CB for the price, mainly because of how insane his tackling feels. Strong physicality, good recovery pace, and aggressive defending make him very effective in direct defensive situations. He’s especially good for players who like aggressive defending. However, the High/High work rate can become a big issue over time. His tendency to push forward too much leaves gaps behind, especially against fast or smart attackers.
